In this hands-on introduction to cake decorating class, you'll gain confidence and enjoy a creative hobby with delicious results. Under the step-by-step instructions of Mia Thompson, you'll practice essential techniques and learn a how to achieve professional results.Try your hand at creating clean and creative cake board designs. Practice writing techniques to personalize your cakes with style. Get familiar with different icing consistencies and piping tips as you create flowers, leaves, balloons, polka dots, rosettes, and even basket weaves. Each student will work on their own cake. All materials and tools are provided.

Hands-On Classes (grades 4-6)
Junior Chefs will enjoy preparing ingredients and cooking along with Zebbie Borland in this weeklong camp. Bring your appetite, grab a spatula, and join the fun as we create recipes designed for young foodies! Each day features a balanced menu that will help build a foundation for several different cooking and baking techniques and skills. We’ll start off Monday with a delicious breakfast and follow with four days of dinner menus you’ll want to replicate at home all summer long.

Master the art of pie dough with Chef Mary Cooney in this hands-on class. Mix, roll, and shape your own dough to create a personal 5" Peach Pie to take home and bake, along with golden, flaky Peach Hand Pies to enjoy. Chef Mary will also demonstrate how to build a classic 9" Peach Pie, sharing tips for a tender crust and juicy filling. A skill-focused class perfect for building confidence in classic baking techniques.

Enjoy tender Boneless Lemon Chicken Thighs and Mixed Vegetables with Lemon Pesto, alongside Cannelloni filled with Meat Ragù, Ricotta, and Spinach, baked with Béchamel. One of the best ways to bring a ton of flavor to just about any dish is by adding some type of pickled vegetable. From pickled red onions on tacos, pickled chiles on pizza, jazzing up a charcuterie board, or just eating from the jar, the acidic sweet-sourness is addictive. Rob Leonard has been using the water bath method to make dill pickles for over 20 years. In this introductory course, students will learn the basics of pickling. Participants will prepare, pack, and pickle Kirby Cucumbers (Dill Pickles) and Old-Fashioned Dilly Beans (Green Beans). You will take home your own pint of each. Pickled vegetables, charcuterie, and wine will be served in this class!

Perfect for young cooks, this hands-on class with Zebbie Borland brings a picnic to life with fun, kid-friendly favorites. Petite chefs will help prepare Tadpoles in a Hole, Caterpillar Pasta Salad with Homemade Ranch Dressing, and Ladybug Cupcakes, finishing with Bug Juice. A lighthearted experience designed to spark creativity, build confidence, and make cooking fun.

Culinary Center Class Cancellation & Registration Policy
Culinary Center class registrations may be cancelled up to 7 days prior to the scheduled class date to receive a full refund, with proper notification. Cancellations made with notification after the 7-day deadline are eligible for credit toward future culinary class registrations if notification is given prior to the day of a class. If you are unable to attend any class, you are welcome to send a substitute in your place. To give proper notifications for a cancellation or notice of a substitution, please contact the culinary center location where your class is taking place. Any no-call, no-show participants forfeit refunds or class credits. The DLM Culinary Center reserves the right to cancel a class, when necessary, due to inclement weather, emergencies, or insufficient enrollment, and may also substitute instructors or food items when required. In the event that a class is cancelled, registered students will receive a full refund or credit, as applicable.
