Harriet Argue was the owner of Truffles Café and Catering. She was also involved in menu development and catering at Madison's Bistro and Mediterra. We welcome her back to Dorothy Lane's Culinary Center to share her expertise with Greek Cuisine. Moving here from Los Angeles from a large Greek family, she started a California Deli Café. Her restaurants were known for their quality food, and innovative menus. Harriet was in the catering and restaurant business for over 30 years. She has taught cooking classes in the Dayton area for many years.

During the holiday season, Harriet Argue pulls out all the baking stops to make traditional favorites. Greek desserts have a unique combination of flavors that make them different from typical pastries, and each is amazingly delicious. Harriet will demonstrate four of these childhood favorites you’ll want to add to your holiday sweet list. We’re all familiar with Baklava, but Harriet will kick it up making a Chocolate version of this crispy, nutty, syrupy delight. Kourabiedes are a buttery, shortbread-type cookie, covered in powdered sugar. Ekmek Kataifi is one of the most popular Greek desserts filled with creamy Custard Crème, and when baked looks like shredded wheat. And we'll finish with Amygdalota, a crunchy and chewy Greek almond cookie. Light snacks will be served.
