Heavenly Ham® and Asparagus Rolls

INGREDIENTS

  • 3 Tbsp butter
  • ¼ cup flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • ½ lb Swiss, Gruyere, or Cheddar Cheese, shredded
  • ½ cup Parmigiano-Reggiano, grated
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • 8 slices of Heavenly Ham®
  • 24 spears of asparagus, steamed, grilled, or roasted

INSTRUCTIONS

Preheat the oven to 400°F.

Make the cheese sauce by melting the butter over medium-low heat in a small saucepan. Add the flour and make a roux.

Slowly add the milk whisking until cooked and thickened. Remove from heat and add both of the cheeses, whisking until melted. Season to taste with salt, pepper, and nutmeg.

Butter a 9×13 pan and for each slice of ham roll up 3 asparagus spears. Place seam side down in pan.

Pour cheese sauce over rolls and bake until sauce is bubbly and golden brown in spots. Sprinkle top with paprika if desired.
