  • Butter, softened for pan
  • cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 3 large eggs
  • cup milk
  • cup olive oil
  • 6 oz Heavenly Ham®, cut into small dice
  • cups sharp Cheddar or Gruyere, shredded

Preheat oven to 350°F. Generously brush a loaf pan with butter.
In a large bowl, whisk flour with baking powder, salt, and pepper, set aside. In another bowl, lightly whisk eggs, then whisk in milk and olive oil.
Using a rubber spatula, fold wet ingredients into dry until barely mixed. Fold in ham and cheese. Scrape batter into loaf pan and smooth top.
Bake loaf until golden and a toothpick inserted in center comes out with a few crumbs attached, 40 to 50 minutes. Let cool in pan for 5 minutes and run a knife around the edges to release.
Turn out loaf to a rack and let firm before slicing. Try serving with tomato soup or toast it for breakfast.

What is the amount of butter? It only says 1/2.

Thank you for that catch! You'll need just enough butter to coat the pan so that the bread will not stick.
