CABBAGE, WATER, SALT
Beer-Simmered Brats: Simmer the bratwursts in a German-style lager or Märzen with sliced onions for about 15 minutes. Then finish them on a hot grill until the casings are golden and lightly charred. Simmering first keeps them juicy, and grilling adds smoky flavor.
Warm Kraut Topping: Heat the DLM Sauerkraut in a skillet with a pat of butter, a pinch of caraway seed, and a few thin apple slices. This mellows the tang and gives it a classic Bavarian touch.
Build the Perfect Bite: Lightly toast the DLM Bakehouse buns, tuck in a brat, and pile on the warm kraut. Finish with a stripe of Alstertor Düsseldorf mustard.
Round Out the Table: Serve with German potato salad, soft pretzels, braised red cabbage, and an Ohio craft Oktoberfest beer for a full beer garden spread at home. Afterward, the mustard's glass mug can be washed and kept as a keepsake.
Store the Schaller & Weber Brats in the refrigerator immediately upon arrival.
DLM Hot Dog Buns are made without preservatives, so it is best to store them in the refrigerator for 2-3 days or store in the freezer for up to 3 months.
