What is Blackhabana panettone?

Blackhabana is Loison's bold reinterpretation of the classic Italian panettone — the soft, naturally leavened bread that anchors every Italian Christmas table. Instead of the traditional candied fruit and raisins, Loison fills this version with a rich dark chocolate and rum filling, a nod to Caribbean flavor layered onto Old World technique. It's panettone for anyone who loves a little drama with their holiday dessert.

What does panettone taste like?

Real panettone isn't like a dense fruitcake — it's closer to a delicate, slightly sweet brioche, with a crumb that's soft, airy, and almost pull-apart in texture. That lightness comes from a slow, naturally fermented sourdough process that can take up to three days. In the Blackhabana, that same airy dough is threaded through with dark chocolate and rum, so every slice carries both the classic panettone chew and a deeper, more indulgent finish.

Is this panettone made in Italy?

Yes. It's made by Loison, a family-owned bakery founded in 1938 by Tranquillo Loison in Costabissara, near Vicenza in Italy's Veneto region. Now run by the third generation of the Loison family, the bakery is recognized as one of Italy's most award-winning panettone makers, and every loaf is still produced using traditional methods and slow natural fermentation.
