Chef Adam Berning is is an Alumni of the Culinary Institute of America. His experience has been very broad from working across the country at some of the top resorts and private clubs. Adam enjoys everything culinary, from pastries, healthy meals, sauces, to artisan breads. He owned and operated a bakery for 5 years and a restaurant for two years. Adam is not only a Chef, he is also DLM's Customer Resources Manager. You'll see him throughout the Washington Square store eager to answer all your culinary questions!

Observe professional techniques as Adam showcases the methods that create perfect lamination to create a menu with examples of each pastry type. Inverse Puff Pastry—an advanced method where butter encases the dough, resulting in exceptionally crisp, delicate pastries (Cheese Sticks with Olives, Mustard, Brie, Onion Dip, and Marinara). Blitz Dough—a quicker, more approachable method that delivers impressive layers with less time commitment (Ham and Cheese Pithiviers). And Classic Butter Puff —the traditional technique that creates the quintessential flaky, ethereal layers (Napoleon).

Join Chef Adam Berning for an educational exploration of flatbreads from around the world and the many delicious ways to enjoy them. In this demonstration-focused class, you'll have hands-on opportunities to work with Adam as he showcases the techniques behind these three distinctive types of flatbreads: Naan—an Indian staple, known for its soft, fluffy texture and slightly chewy interior; Lavash—an Armenian thin bread made with few ingredients for a cracker-like texture; and Pita—the popular Middle Eastern classic, a most versatile thin bread often made pocket-style for stuffing or thicker for serving with dips like hummus and tzatziki. This menu will be paired with wine.
