Mary Jo McMillin is at it again, spreading the gospel of good food and great taste with her new cookbook that bears the same name as her former restaurant, Mary Jo's Cuisine, near Miami University in Oxford. From its start in 1986, the small European-style bistro prided itself on its exquisite taste and exceptional quality featuring meats and seasonal produce from local farmers.Though the days of patrons flocking to the bistro have ended, the close of the restaurant definitely did not signify the end of fabulous food. Mary Jo's Cuisine features the carefully tested and tasted recipes the restaurant was known for.Mary Jo gained her culinary expertise by training (what she calls) "country-style." Widely traveled, she took her passion for food to East Africa, France, and Ireland where she honed her cooking skills and developed a rich palate of international flavors touched with country French style.Mary Jo has operated a thriving catering business, written for several newspapers, and has taught at various cooking schools, including the Ballymaloe Cookery School in Ireland. Mary Jo currently lives in Oxford and can be heard on the local NPR station WMUB.
