About Susie and Iván Núñez

Iván and Susie Núñez have developed a comfortable blend of international cooking styles that has evolved into the distinctive Casa Nunez flavor. Ivan learned the traditional cooking styles of his native Puerto Rico. As a young man he co-owned a successful Mexican restaurant in New Mexico. He and Susie married in Gibraltar and the pair made their first home together in Madrid, Spain. The Air Force brought the couple to Beavercreek where for over more than 20 years of marriage, they have regularly cooked for family and friends. Using traditional elements from both the Mediterranean and Puerto Rico, Susie and Ivan have fully incorporated the rustic art of food preparation into their daily cooking and are happy to share those practices.

Susie and Iván Núñez are always geared up and ready for a fun party, and a Hawaiian Luau theme is one of their favorites for the summer season. Tropic inspired and crowd pleasing, these dishes are great for a large outdoor celebration. Ham and Cheese Sliders on sweet Hawaiian Rolls with crunchy and fruity Mango Cabbage Slaw will be an enjoyable first course. Hawaiian Chicken in Coconut and Pineapple is a sweet and tangy dish with fresh pineapple and peppers, and sure to become a family favorite. Spam adds a savory-salty flavor to a Fried Rice dish. And for dessert, rich and buttery Macadamia Nuts make cookies a scrumptious last bite. This menu will be paired with wine.

Join us for an Argentinian-style menu from Susie and Iván Núñez ideal for a mid-summer evening. We'll start with traditional Empanadas, delicious pockets of dough stuffed with savory filling and baked to golden perfection. Hearts of Palm have a mild, artichoke-like flavor that's delicate with a slight crunch for Hearts of Palm Salad. Churrasco is rich, beefy skirt steak seasoned, skewered, and grilled. We'll garnish it with a zingy, herby Chimichurri, and plate with Basil Potatoes. Arroz Con Leche, (rice pudding) will be a welcome creamy finish. This menu will be paired with Argentine wines.

Culinary Trip Through Latin America

Friday, August 30 | 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. | $110

Join Susie and Iván Núñez for a culinary adventure featuring Latin American countries. You'll enjoy dishes common in Panama, Argentina, Cuba, Ecuador, and Puerto Rico. A light, vibrant appetizer of Shrimp and Fish Ceviche will get us started. Sweet, crunchy Carrots and peppery Arugula bright with lemon will make a lovely salad common in Argentina. Cuban Ropa Vieja is beef braised in aromatic Cuban spices and served with Black Beans and Lime Rice. Budin, or Puerto Rican Bread Pudding, is a comforting dish made with a bread soaked in cinnamon-spiced batter with sweetened condensed milk for a creamy, caramelly flavor. This menu will be paired with wine.
