Chef Joel Gittens joined the faculty of The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of Ohio, Cincinnati in October 2009. Chef Gittens, a native of Barbados, has traveled extensively, working in the culinary industry in a variety of countries and capacities. He shares his vast experience with culinary students in courses such as American Regional Cuisine, Latin Cuisine, World Cuisine, Fundamentals of Classical Techniques and Classical European Cuisine. Chef Gittens earned both Bachelor of Science and an Associate of Science degree from Johnson & Wales University and holds certificates in Asian Cuisine (from Singapore) and Thai Cuisine (from Bangkok, Thailand). He is a member of the American Culinary Federation (ACF) Chef Gittens considerable experience includes serving as the Executive Sous Chef at the 7 Oaks Golf Club; General Manager at The Original Soup Man (featured in Seinfeld); Banquet / Sous Chef at the Pittsburgh Airport Marriott; Sous Chef for Cayman Catering (Airline Catering) and Commis Chef at BASF Aktiengeselischaft, one of the top ten restaurants in Germany.
