Small-Batch Nut Butters Worth Reaching For

At Dorothy Lane Market, we’ve spent more than 75 years finding foods that are worth going out of your way for. Our nut butter collection follows the same rule. Every jar here is made by people who care about where their nuts come from, how they’re roasted, and what goes into the jar. Just as important is what stays out.

Big Spoon Roasters: Handcrafted in North Carolina

Big Spoon Roasters began with a memory. Founder Mark Overbay served in the Peace Corps in Zimbabwe, where he tasted freshly roasted, hand-ground peanut butter. Years later, he and his wife, Megan, set out to recreate it. Today Big Spoon roasts and mills its nut butters in small batches. The coarse, rustic texture is a hallmark, and the ingredients are wholesome: Southern-grown peanuts, heirloom almonds, raw wildflower honey, sorghum and sea salt. Look for inventive flavors like Chai Spice Peanut & Almond Butter, which Big Spoon credits as the original chai-spiced nut butter. Big Spoon makes no palm oil, hydrogenated oils, or fillers. Just great nut butter, best eaten with a big spoon.

How to Enjoy Gourmet Nut Butter

    • Swirl into oatmeal, overnight oats or Greek yogurt
    • Spread on warm toast, bagels or apple slices with a drizzle of honey
    • Blend into smoothies for richness and staying power
    • Add to a cheese board next to sharp cheddar, fresh fruit and crackers
    • Bake into cookies, bars and blondies, or straight from the jar (no judgment)
