Welcome! There will be only one transfer provided by shuttle from the Palermo Airport to the hotel in Palermo. You must arrive at the Palermo Airport by 12 p.m. local time for this service. If you arrive outside of that window or to a different location, you’ll need to arrange your own transportation to the hotel (approximately a 30 to 40-minute drive from the Palermo Airport). After you settle in to the hotel in Palermo, where you’ll stay for three nights, there will be time to explore prior to a welcome dinner at a phenomenal restaurant at 8 p.m.
Spend your first full day in Palermo soaking in the culture and history of this unique coastal capital. After breakfast at the hotel, a guided tour through the city will highlight the Norman & Arabic influences on the architecture, the food, and more. The tour concludes at a local park with a street food-style lunch at a local restaurant. Afterward, feel free to explore the city and dine on your own for dinner.
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before we immerse ourselves in the unique art of Sicily with a visit to a family-run ceramic workshop and store with pieces modeled after the Baroque period. Afterward, there will be free time to soak in Palermo and lunch on your own. A group dinner is at a restaurant with modern design, trendy cocktails, and a menu that focuses on traditional cuisine.
Get ready to soak in the rolling countryside of Sicily as we depart Palermo after breakfast at the hotel and make our way to Siracusa. On the way, we'll stop for a visit and tasting lunch with a sheep's milk cheese producer in Calascibetta. Once we check in at our boutique hotel in Siracusa that afternoon, you'll have free time to explore your new surroundings and enjoy dinner on your own.
Full of history with ancient ruins that blends both Greek and Roman influence, there's much to learn and see in Siracusa. After breakfast at the hotel, we'll go on a guided tour of the city and enjoy lunch at a sophisticated restaurant, mixing traditional fare with modern flavors. Afterward, you'll have time on your own to continue exploring the land of sun and sea, including dinner on your own.
Prepare yourself for a day of tasting your way through the countryside of Sicily as we travel from Siracusa to Niscemi with tasty stops along the way. After breakfast at the hotel, we'll depart for Modica, a city famous for architecture and chocolate! Enjoy a tour and tasting at a local chocolate producer in Modica before a transfer to Frigintini where we'll continue the indulgence with a chocolate-themed lunch at a local restaurant. Our day will end at a unique resort winery in Niscemi where we're we'll stay overnight. Located in a restored 18th century manor house, the baglio, or fortified estate, is located atop a hill with stunning views. Here you'll enjoy a visit to the winery and a tasting dinner.
After departing Niscemi, you’ll travel seemingly back in time to Castelvetrano, a city that dates back to the 12th and 13th centuries. It is here that a tasting lunch and visit at a special bakery awaits, where you’ll learn about the typical pane nero of Castelvetrano. Afterward, you’ll travel to the seaside city of Trapani and check in to a modern hotel prior to enjoying a group dinner.
Today's itinerary includes traveling to the medieval hilltop town of Erice. Enjoy the day there exploring castles, wandering the cobbled streets, and taking in the breathtaking panoramic view of western Sicily. That afternoon we'll journey back to Trapani for a professional cooking class where we'll roll up our sleeves and work with a professional chef for a hands-on cooking class dinner, centered around preparing a traditional Sicilian meal.
We’ll venture to Marsala, an area renowned for its wine, and enjoy a guided tour of the salt flats and museum. A trip to this region wouldn't be complete without wine, so we'll also have a visit and tasting lunch at a winery before traveling back to Trapani where you will have the evening to explore and enjoy dinner on your own.
After breakfast at the hotel, luggage will be collected and we’ll travel to Paceco for a farm visit and tasting lunch with an extra-virgin olive oil producer. After this experience, we’ll travel back to Palermo to check into our final stay, enjoy some free time to see the city, and gather for dinner together as a group.
Our time in Sicily with the Food Tour has come to a close and it's time to say ciao. Breakfast will be available at the hotel prior to check-out. There will be a single transfer time by shuttle to the Palermo Airport offered on this morning at a time that is to be determined.
