Health Fair Guide

If you’ve ever attended our annual Health Fair at DLM Springboro, happening 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Saturday, March 23, then you already know it’s two floors of knowledgeable vendors and health & wellness practitioners who are eager to share FREE samples and expert advice with you! There is a passenger elevator for those who need it, so be sure to check out the top floor, too!

Look for these complimentary opportunities and more:

HEARING SCREENING

While you’re here, stop at the Acute Hearing truck in front of the store set up for a complimentary screening! Acute Hearing wants to educate everyone on what causes hearing loss, how it affects the brain as well as interpersonal relationships, and then introduce you to the very latest advances in hearing technology!

EYE SCREENING

Stop at the Wiley’s Finest Wild Alaskan Fish Oil booth and sign up for a free Macular Pigment Optical Density test with their MPOD machine. The macula is made up of primarily lutein and zeaxanthin, and this pigment plays a critical role in protecting the macula from harmful blue light associated with screens (television, computer, cell phones, etc.). Put your eyes to the test and see how well protected (or pigmented) your macula is!

AROMAREFLEX TREATMENT

Stop at the Institute for Holistic Leadership’s booth and enjoy a complimentary Aromareflex treatment. According to the Mayo Clinic, “Reflexology is defined as the application of pressure to areas on the feet (or the hands) that is generally relaxing and may help alleviate stress. The theory behind reflexology is that areas of the foot correspond to specific organs and systems of the body.” By combining aromatherapy, with its use of essential oils, along with reflexology, you get a complete holistic approach to addressing specific ailments such as anxiety, headaches, and more!

PERSONAL TRAINING ADVICE

Visit the Borovoy Fitness & Shiatsu booth and get some free advice from a certified personal trainer. You can also enjoy a little complimentary Shiatsu while you’re there. Shiatsu (meaning finger pressure) is a form of therapeutic bodywork originating from Japan. It uses kneading, pressing, soothing, tapping, and stretching techniques and is performed without oils through light, comfortable clothing. Additionally, you will learn a little about Krav Maga, which Time magazine calls “a self-defense tactic that is not only embraced by FBI and SWAT teams alike, but is also a staple of high-end gyms across the globe, where a faster-paced and less-combative version provides a workout that could literally save your life!”

HEALTH SEMINARS

If you haven’t registered yet for our free Health Seminars, there are still a few seats available. At 11:30 a.m., Lori Kelch, an independent nutrition and wellness educator, will enlighten you on the connection between nutrition and inflammation. And at 1:30 p.m., you can get the facts about hemp-derived CBD from CV Sciences’ National Educator, Maggie Frank. Whether you choose one seminar or both, prepare to come away informed and enlightened!

10 Ways to Stay Healthy This Season

‘Tis the season to be … SICK. As we head into cold and flu season, our DLM Healthy Living Managers have comprised a list of their Top 10 recommended products that you should have in your “Seasonal Medicine Chest” to help you and your family get healthy and stay healthy!

1. Everyone Hand Sanitizer

As the name implies, this hand sanitizer is for EVERYONE—including those with sensitive skin because it’s made with plant extracts and pure essential oils. The small 2 oz size makes it convenient to carry in your car, purse, or briefcase when you need to wash your hands on the go. And, since it is 99.9% effective against most common germs, it gets our No. 1 spot on the list!

2. Garden of Life Elderberry Syrup

A strong immune system is crucial to staying healthy. Whether you choose the gummies or the liquid, this highly concentrated immune system support is perfect for the whole family from ages 4 and up! Made with real fruit along with echinacea, zinc, and vitamin C, it’s certified organic, non-GMO, and gluten free.

3. Boiron Oscillococcinum

While it’s hard to spell and even harder to pronounce, it’s not hard to understand that this is the best homeopathic remedy on the market to combat flu-like symptoms. Proven to reduce the duration and severity of flu symptoms including: fever, chills, body aches, headache, and fatigue, these quickly dissolving pellets are great for the entire family ages 2 and up! And, after a mom posted on social media how effective it was in conjunction with Elderberry Syrup, we couldn’t keep it on the shelves!

4. Garden of Life Oil of Oregano Seasonal Drops

Although this liquid herbal supplement is alcohol free, it’s not intended for children. Adults should dilute six drops into a glass of water and taken in between meals for maximum results.

5. Sovereign Silver Bio-Active Silver Hydrosol

Silver, which occurs naturally in mushrooms, has been used for centuries to foster good health. It tastes like water but works like a charm! Boost your immune system with the dropper top formula, the vertical spray, or the Kids’ Formula for children ages 4 and up. Gluten free, non-GMO, and allergen-free.

6. Barlean’s Olive Leaf Complex Throat Spray

As soon as you feel that first tickle or hint of a scratchy throat, spray this peppermint-flavored super-antioxidant solution to the back of your throat (or your child’s) and repeat every half hour as necessary.

7. ManukaGuard Manuka Honey Throat & Chest Syrup

This medical-grade, alcohol-free syrup is “tough on seasonal bugs but gentle on families.” Great for everyone in the family ages 2 and up with its combination of organic apple cider vinegar, New Zealand Manuka Honey, along with olive leaf, ginger root, and licorice root extracts.

8. Quantum Health’s Thera Zinc Lozenges

Unlike traditional cough drops, these throat lozenges support your immune system as well as quell your cough. Whether you choose the Organic Elderberry flavor or the Blood Orange flavor, its special blend of organic marshmallow root, organic slippery elm, and echinacea pack a powerful punch when your body needs it most! And if you suffer from a sore throat and persistent cough, try their Meyer Lemon & Organic Honey Cough Relief Lozenges.

9. Xlear Natural Saline Sinus Spray

There’s a reason why healthcare professionals worldwide recommend XLEAR nasal sprays to their patients: it works! The winning combination of capsicum (fast-acting relief of sinus congestion), aloe (to sooth irritated nasal passages), and xylitol (to reduce swelling without steroids) is highly effective! But don’t take our word for it, XLEAR offers a money-back guarantee if you’re not satisfied with the results.

10. Traditional Medicinals Teas

Because all of their organic teas are caffeine free, a nice hot cup of Traditional Medicinals Tea is a wonderful way to end the day. Specially created by herbalists to be deliciously effective, choose the tea best suited to your specific needs. We highly recommend Breathe Easy, Gypsy Cold Care, Echinacea, and Throat Coat (with or without lemon).

The Face of Natural

One of the most valuable lessons learned in caring for yourself is that what goes on your skin is as vital as the foods you eat. Quite simply, we absorb what we apply. Avoiding the dirty dozen chemical ingredients in soaps, lotions, hair care, and cosmetics has been an effective method for me in combating brittle hair as well as dry, painful skin irritations. Plus, it helps me feel my very best from the outside in. From therapeutic need to simple pampering, let the Healthy Living Department at DLM help tailor your healthy, nourishing body care regimen.
