Todd Norman Wines
Todd Norman Wines are an intensely fun project between Dorothy Lane Market's Wine Shops and some of our friends on the West Coast. Brian Talley of Talley Vineyards and his crew have helped us with two amazing renditions of California-grown Burgundian varietals, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
Todd Norman 2009 Edna Valley Chardonnay
The Todd Norman 2009 Edna Valley Chardonnay, from Oliver's Vineyard in the Edna Valley, was hand harvested September 29-October 1, 2009, naturally barrel fermented with wild yeast, and aged eleven months sur lie in French Oak barrels. The result is an amazingly layered wine that is very food friendly. Tons of pineapple, kiwi, lemon curd, and Mandarin orange laced in vanillin oak, it is beautifully balanced with a bright minerality.
Todd Norman 2009 Edna Valley Pinot Noir
The Todd Norman 2009 Edna Valley Pinot Noir was from a small-yield crop off the Stone Corral Vineyard, hand harvested September 9-23, 2009, and left in Allier and Vosges French oak for sixteen months. Perfect with grilled salmon, duck, or tenderloin, it is complex, with strawberry, rose petal, tobacco, nutmeg, and vanilla spice that has a nicely balanced tannin acidity ratio.
