October Market Report
The Latest and Greatest from
DLM Meat and Seafood
At DLM, we have always been passionate about the
sourcing, the quality, the preparation, and the service of the food that you
will use to feed your families and entertain your friends. We take great pride
in bringing you the highest quality items, many of which can be found nowhere
else in town!
The Latest in Meat
Cool
weather, changing fall colors, football, and barbeque ribs. One can get excited
about at least 3 out of the 4. Football requires the pigskin, but barbeque
ribs can be beef or pork. Most of the ribs you eat are pork because that is
what has been made popular by the restaurants. Try Coleman beef ribs though,
and you may never go back! The slabs are larger with bigger bones, so they
lack the pretty eye appeal that a slab of pork baby back ribs has laying on
the plate, but we are talking flavor here! The meat will fall off the bone
when cooked properly, and the richness of the meat will hit you like a blitzing
linebacker. We season them with a special seasoning rub, roast them for three
hours, and finish them off with Jacks Grill Smoky Chipotle Grilling
Sauce. Im kind of proud of this sauce, since being teamed up with Coleman
beef brisket it won the Peoples Choice Award at the Coors
Mile High Barbeque Contest in Frisco, Colorado, beating out over 75 others.
Find these great tasting ribs in the Chefs Express cold and hot cases
in the Meat Departments at all three stores. $4.99/lb save $1.00
Traditional Irish Breakfast
Were not talking weight watchers herejust pure
protein. Rashers (Irish back bacon), Bangers (Irish pork sausage links), and
Breakfast Pudding. Start your morning off with this kind of flavor, and you
will be ready for a board meeting or a rugby game.
Shannon Traditional Rashers or Bangers 1-lb pkg $5.99 each
Shannon Traditional Irish Black or White Bread Pudding 8-oz pkg $3.99 each
The
Greatest in Seafood
Red King Crab is the October seafood item that brings a tear to my eye.
We are talking fresh Red King Crab here. If you have ever had fresh Alaska
Red King Crab Legs, then I know you have joined us the last three years for
this treat, or you have been to Alaska, because no one else dares to bring
them in fresh! The season will start on the October 15 and will last about
two weeks, or until the quota has been caught. All the Red King Crab you eat
during the year has been caught and frozen during this short season. A very
small percentage of this harvest will be brought to Dutch Harbor, Alaska in
live holding tanks where it will be cooked and shipped out overnight to Dorothy
Lane Markets Seafood Departments. The Red King Crab Legs will be the
sweetest, most filled legs you will ever eat, with no salty taste. Crab should
be available from Oct. 19 through the first week in November (weather permitting
in the Bering Sea).
Also watch for information in the Seafood Department about our Annual Clam
Bake. We will be teaming up with some of the top farm-raised mussel and clam
companies on the East Coast to bring you the perfect cool-weather dinner or
tailgate party centerpiece. Details can be found in our Seafood Departments
later in the month.
