Sautéed New Potatoes

24 tiny new potatoes
1/2 cup butter
Freshly ground pepper

Wash potatoes and pat dry. Melt butter in a heavy, flame-proof casserole dish with a tight-fitting lid. Add potatoes, and season with pepper to taste. Cover pan, and shake to coat potatoes with butter. Cook over low heat, shaking casserole occasionally, for 30 to 45 minutes or until potatoes are tender. Serve immediately with the browned butter.
