Glazed Spiced Pecans
We've added spices to Kitty Sach's pecan recipe. We hope you enjoy the variation.
1 egg white
2 Tbsp water
1 lb pecan halves
1 cup sugar
2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground cloves
1/4 tsp each of nutmeg, ginger, and allspice
Preheat oven to 200°F. Beat egg white and water until frothy. Pour over nuts and toss to coat thoroughly.
Combine sugar, spices, and salt; pour over nuts, coating completely. Spread onto a greased, foil-lined jelly-roll pan and bake for 2 hours, stirring gently after each half hour. For extra crispness, let pecans remain in oven for at least 1 hour with oven turned off. Cool completely, and store in an airtight container. Makes 5 cups
