Sweet Kraut for Brats

1 lb shredded sauerkraut
1/4 medium onion, chopped
1 Granny Smith apple with skin, diced
2 Tbsp brown sugar

Partially drain kraut. Add to heavy saucepan with apple, onion, and brown sugar. Cook over medium heat until apple is quite tender, stirring occasionally. If kraut starts to dry out, lower heat and cover. Kraut is done when all liquid is evaporated. Serve hot with brats.
