Honey-Baked Pears

Crystallized ginger gives the pears a burst of freshness and flavor. Adapted from Southern Living, February 1993

Ingredients:

  • 6 medium pears (choose your favorite variety), ripened for 2 days
  • 1/2–3/4 cup honey
  • 2 Tbsp crystallized ginger
  • 3/4 cup water

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350º F. Cut the pears in half and core. Arrange pear halves, cut side down, in a lightly greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan. Drizzle with honey, and sprinkle with ginger. Add water. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes or until tender. Delicious served at room temperature or chilled.
