A favorite gift idea from Louise Braley, a DLM associate.
The original recipe comes from Ardie Holmes, an avid DLM shopper.
Ingredients:
- 35–40 salted saltine crackers
- 12 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup toasted, chopped pecans
- 1 cup light brown sugar
Directions:
Line a jelly-roll pan with aluminum foil; carefully butter the foil. Lay
saltines on foil to completely cover the pan. Bring butter and sugar to a
boil, and continue to boil for 1 minute. Carefully drizzle butter/sugar mixture
over the saltines. Bake at 400° F for 10–12 minutes until bubbly. Remove from
oven; sprinkle with chips. Let stand several minutes to melt the chocolate,
then spread chocolate evenly over the surface. Sprinkle with nuts. Score into
squares while still warm. Chill to harden chocolate.
