These are moist, chocolate, rich and easy to make brownies from Nestle's - - the chocolate people.

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup butter or margarine
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 Tbsp water
  • 1 - 12 oz pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips, divided
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Directions:

Preheat oven to 325°F. Combine flour, baking soda and salt, set aside. In a small saucepan, combine butter, sugar and water; heat just to a boil. Remove from heat and stir in 1 cup of chocolate chips and the vanilla. Stir until chocolate melts and mixture is smooth. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually blend in flour mixture. Stir in remaining chips and nuts. Spread in a greased 9" square pan. Bake 30-35 minutes or until brownies test done. Cool completely and cut into squares.

Recipe may be doubled and baked in a 9"x13" pan, resulting in a thicker brownie. Bake 35-45 minutes.

If desired, dust cooled brownies with powdered sugar. These bars freeze beautifully!

Makes 16 - 2.25" squares
