August 2013

Tri-Melon Cooler Gluten Free
Refreshing, plus it's dairy-free! If you are in a hurry, skip freezing the milk and Metromint; however, I really enjoy the slushy effect of the ice cubes in this drink.

Our next meeting is the Pizza Bake-Off this Saturday, August 10 from 3-4:30 p.m. in the School of Cooking next door to the Washington Square store. There are so many pizzas available right now, how do you decide which one to buy? The answer is simple; try them first! Ballots will be distributed promptly at 3:00 p.m. Please don’t be late. We will take a field trip to the Frozen department where you can see your choices and make your selection from over 10 different varieties. We will bring the top 3 picks back to the SOC, bake them, and try samples.
Gluten-Free Dinner Party

Join Chef Eric Braddock from Eban Bakery as he shows us how to prepare a delicious gluten-free summer menu. Stuffed Artichokes; Andouille-Crusted Sea Scallops with Lemon Scallion Butter; Chef's "Good Rice"; and Chocolate Pudding & Peanut Butter Parfait for dessert. I already registered because I am not missing this one!

Hand-Picked Melons
For decades, Waynesville’s Ray Patton has ensured us a direct line of Florida and Georgia's finest melons. Ray and his sons personally pick each load, drive it up to us from down south, and carefully unload each one. The quality is evident every time you take a bite into a juicy slice.
The Brown and Blond Bakery
The Brown and Blond Bakery is locally owned by Kathy Wegner of Marysville, Ohio. Kathy will be at the DLM Farmers' Market from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on August 10 at Oakwood and August 24 at Washington Square, and will continue to do tastings inside the stores in the afternoon. The Brown and Blond Bakery is the home of the Dark Chocolate Brownie and Blondie Mixes. If dark is your favorite type of chocolate, you must try the decadent Dark Chocolate Brownie. The mixes are also grain free, nut free, and dairy free, and are made with raw cane sugar, organic coconut flour, sea salt, and organic vanilla. Don’t pass up this chance to grab a taste.
