King Cake

King Cake is back, and none of us can contain ourselves! All year we wait for the return of this celebratory cake, and can’t get enough. Our King Cakes are baked for a limited time, just until Lent begins. They are soft, yet crunchy with yummy colored sugar, and filled with your choice of raspberry, cherry, apple, or my personal favorite, cream cheese. We even make a King Cake Baby Cake!

The colors of the decorative sugar have meaning; purple representing justice, green representing faith, and gold representing power. Our King Cakes come complete with a set of Mardi Gras beads and a plastic baby that the host of the party can place in a random spot in the cake. Whoever receives the piece that contains the baby is blessed with good luck for the year, and is obligated to host the Mardi Gras party the following year.

Feeling more traditional? We even offer the “original” King Cake, Le Pithivier. An entirely different kind of treat, this dessert consists of puff-pastry filled with almond cream and a slight amount of burnt sugar on top. This French version is not as sweet, but offers a delicious alternative to the New Orleans cake. Whatever your Mardi Gras plans entail, we have you covered! Stop in and grab either a King Cake or Le Pithivier while they are here.
