Beaujolais Nouveau & Cheese

November brings the annual wine hype of Beaujolais Nouveau, and after many years here in the wine shops of DLM, I’m convinced that folks do not have a complete holiday table setting without a bottle of this wine. Meant to celebrate the new vintage harvest, it arrives to our stores November 19. This wine is a crowd-pleasing, soft, supple offering of plummy freshness that pairs so easily with turkey and all its trimmings ... and cheese! Try it with a nice cheese plate of Brie de Meaux, 200-Day-Old Gorgonzola, and maybe a nibble of our favorite Cheddar value, Barber’s 1833 Vintage Cheddar. We will have a number of Beaujolais Nouveau available through the holiday season with Domaine Rochette, Joseph Drouhin, and Georges Duboeuf amongst our favorites.
Brie de Meaux: A very smooth and creamy cow’s milk cheese with a slight mushroom tone. We love it smeared on our French Baguette.
200-Day-Old Gorgonzola: Not as sweet as most fresh Gorgonzola, its slightly salty, intense flavor is a food marvel.
Barber’s 1833 Vintage Cheddar: A superb dry, sharp, flavorful Cheddar that has been aged at least 20 months, this has been crafted by the same family since 1833 and is easily one of the best values in the world of Cheddar!
