Our Friends at Allora Vineyards

By: Todd Templin | VP of Beer, Wine, and The DLM Cheese Shop
On: April 29, 2015

We find it such a rewarding aspect of our journey in food & drink here at DLM when we can build relationships with the people who make the wonderful products we bring home here to Dayton. It’s that much more rewarding when it’s an entire family like the Kleins of Allora Vineyards in Napa that you can call friends! Terry & Nancy Klein, along with their grown children Chris, Cortney, and Kelley, are making wines with a sense of place from their family’s property just north of the Napa Valley town of St. Helena.

Allora Vineyards 2011 Cabernet Franc

Easily one of the best California expressions of this varietal I’ve tasted recently, this wine is super elegant with tons of blackberry fruit, herb, olive, and a kiss of oak. Extremely well-made and a great food wine! $80

Allora Vineyards 2011 Lusso

Lusso is Allora Vineyards’ flagship Cabernet Sauvignon and gets the best of every winemaking treatment. Stunning fruit that is bright and long lasting with ripe berries and dark chocolate tones, this wine is 100% estate-grown Cabernet Sauvignon and can stand up to the great wines of the world. $135

Allora Vineyards 2011 Petite Sirah

I know, most people think “what a pricey Petite Sirah,” and I had similar thoughts… until I tasted multiple vintages. Having just a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon, this Petite Sirah is perhaps the inkiest, richest, most brilliant Petite Sirah in both nose and palate that I’ve ever experienced, and it will hold up for at least 15 years! It screams for a grilled DLM Natural Beef Steak! $70
