Local Beer & Cheese

While we are global food enthusiasts through and through, it has long been a practice of ours to support and champion those farmers and food producers in our own region. In the past couple of years, we are thrilled with the local choices for our beer and cheese enthusiast!

From our own DLM Handmade Fresh Mozzarella (we get incredible raw ingredients from our friends in Wisconsin) that is literally hand formed in our stores, to DLM Homemade Butter that is the perfect finishing touch to most any dish. Available in Blue Cheese, Shallot & Herb, Maple Pecan, and Lemon Dill which we particularly enjoy when pan searing fish.

Mackenzie Creamery in northeastern Ohio is a favorite chèvre producer making several flavors that rival anything from other parts of the world. When added to a plate with some local Fair Oaks Sweet Swiss or Guggisberg Butter Cheese, you have the start to a great cheese plate.

Both sides of the Ohio River have seen an explosion in high quality beers. From the very popular Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale in Lexington, to Rivertowne Brewing Company and Rhinegeist Brewery in Cincinnati, we have an ever-growing selection of local brews in our stores. Try something from Jackie O’s in Athens or one of the new seasonal flavors from Great Lakes Brewing Company like the Wright Pils, an excellent example of a pilsner which pays homage to Dayton’s famous brothers.

Some of the most exciting beers to arrive in a retail package will be Dayton’s own Warped Wing Brewing Company’s beers which have been a favorite on draft. As our summer lingers, explore some of these local items and enjoy on your patio for a relaxing treat.
