Dennis Chrisman, current Produce Director, fondly recalls working in the Produce department as a teenager. "I remember the day we brought in organic apples. They weren't as pretty or shiny and they cost twice as much as the other apples. At the time, no one knew what organic meant. I didn't know what it meant. However, years later, everyone knows what it means. We are proud that we were selling organic produce before it became mainstream. We've been in the organic produce business for over 20 years and we understand what it is and what it means to our customers."
We offer a choice between organic and conventional produce when the price difference is substantial. When the price difference is small or there is no difference, only the organic product will be offered.
