Local Cheeses

Buckeye Grove Farm Cheese:
It is located in Beallsville, Ohio where they practice Green Earth Methods which produce highly nutritional food with minimal environmental impact. Farmhouse cheese is made by farmers using only the milk from their own cows. Jersey dairy cows, which the Buckeye Grove family farms herds, are known world wide for the highest quality and nutritional value of their milk. It has more butterfat, protein, and vitamins than milk from other breeds. This five generation family makes cheese in the traditional European method: stirring, forming, and date-stamping each wheel by hand. It is outstanding fresh off the wheel with wine, fruit, or crusty Artisan bread.

Fair Oaks Sweet Swiss
This smoked Gouda from Benton Harbor, Michigan is made from whole unpasteurized cow's milk and naturally smoked. A very fresh flavor in comparison to processed Dutch smoked Gouda. Serve with fresh fruit, it's great on a turkey sandwich, and it melts well, too.

Guggisberg Baby Swiss: At the age of 16, Alfred Guggisberg started the art of cheesemaking in the high pastures of the Swiss Alps. After moving to Millersburg, Ohio, Amish farmers with local milk began seeking him out to make a new cheese. He developed a Baby Swiss that was smaller in size and with a distinctively smooth and mild taste. Travelers from around the country sought out his cheeses and Guggisberg Cheese, Inc. became one of the largest producers of Baby Swiss.
