Cooper’s Mill Apple Butter
David and Miriam Cooper began in 1969 with a fresh fruit and vegetable stand in front of their home, but they soon became known for miles around for their delicious homemade apple butter, jams, and jellies. David learned how to make jelly from his grandmother when he was just 12 years old, and he still uses these original recipes today. Their dark, rich apple butter is cooked in 50-gallon copper kettles over a wood fire. Apple butter adds a sweet richness to foods, reducing the use of sugar; and it helps keep baked goods from drying out. All Cooper’s Mill butters and jams • save 50¢ with Club DLM card through Tuesday, October 13.
