The turkey may be the centerpiece of most of our Thanksgiving celebrations, but for me, and many of you out there, it’s all about the sides. I always struggle about finding enough room on my plate (and in my tummy) for the side dishes, like veggies, casseroles, and most importantly, all those decadent CARBS. For the cook, it’s almost too many dishes. Not to mention that there’s never enough oven or stove-top space.
Some have sentimental value and they just have to be made each year no matter how many other dishes need to be served. I love to talk to our customers to find out what side dishes make it to their Thanksgiving tables. Peggy Neary, our DLM Culinary Center manager, is a fabulous cook and her family expects there to be creamed onions on the table or it just isn’t Thanksgiving.
