SALSA-FY Your Next Meal

Nothing says fresh to me like salsa! It’s full of such bright flavors and the promise of satisfaction. With each bite of our DLM Salsa that we make fresh in our Produce department, I’m inspired with ideas for fun appetizers, dinner, lunch, and even breakfast. Although it’s a natural fit on a tortilla chip, a good salsa is so much more. I see it as a sauce capable of elevating so many dishes in a very modern and healthy way. Here are several ways to SALSA-FY your next meal:

 STRAWBERRY SALSA

This is the perfect summer salsa! It’s both a little sweet and a little spicy with each bite thanks to the fresh, ripe strawberries, red onion, jalapeño, cilantro, and splash of lime.

TRY THIS: For an appetizer, just add a dollop on top of a sliced DLM French Baguette smeared with a good Brie. Try it on top of grilled pork tenderloin or chicken. Or, let it really shine on top of sautéed trout and catfish! Another fun way to enjoy this unique sweet and savory salsa is for breakfast spooned on top of your favorite Greek yogurt.

SALSA VERDE

If you love cilantro, let us introduce you to your new best friend! This very versatile salsa combines fire-roasted fresh tomatillos, jalapeño, garlic, onion, and cilantro.

TRY THIS: I love this one over grilled fish along with Cilantro Lime Rice (available in Gourmet Take Away). Or, try it as an enchilada sauce poured over corn tortillas that are stuffed with shredded chicken and cheese. Spoon over tilapia and be sure to add a squeeze of fresh lime!

CUCUMBER MANGO SALSA

Fresh cucumbers, diced mangos, red onion, cilantro, jalapeño, and lime juice make this seasonal salsa ultra fresh and bright with each bite. Plus, it has a combo of textures that just makes it plain fun as a dipper or a topper.

TRY THIS: We love this one piled high on top of grilled fish, like a piece of mahi mahi, halibut, or any other type of mild-flavored fish. For a showstopper main course at your next dinner party, try it on King Salmon.

BLACK BEAN AND CORN SALSA

Black beans, corn, jalapeño, cilantro, tomato, and the flavors of cumin make this salsa both delicious and nutritious. It pairs so well with so many proteins and grains, as it adds fiber and veggies when used as a relish to top meats, poultry, and even fish.

TRY THIS: Add it to fish tacos along with a dollop of DLM Guacamole. Of course, it’s a natural fit with DLM Tortilla Chips, too.
