Spring garlic is in season for just a few short weeks. Have you tried it yet? Not traditionally found in grocery stores, DLM is thrilled to feature Brickel Creek Organic Farm’s freshest seasonal crop. They look very similar to a green onion, but with thicker green tops and the bottoms are pale white with specks of pink and purple. They are planted as seedlings in the fall and then harvested in the spring, hence the name.
Spring garlic is mild and sweet with a fresh burst of flavor and an almost nutty-like aftertaste. They don’t need a lot of prep work in the kitchen. The whole plant is edible! Plus you can use them instead of garlic cloves in a recipe, or try them in place of green onions or leeks for a special mild and spring-like fresh taste in your next recipe!
