I don’t know about you, but I have had it with all of this hot weather. I want sweater weather, apple cider, and hearty bowls of soup! Although it’s been hot and humid outside, inside at DLM we’ve been falling into autumnal flavors for a while. Walking past the Bakery, Gourmet Take Away, and Soup Station, I love seeing some of my seasonal faves on display.
Take a good look at our Gourmet Take Away case and you’ll see some of my seasonal favorites back on our menu. Forbidden Rice Salad made with steamed black rice and roasted sweet potatoes is a hearty and a deliciously different salad. For breakfast, Scottish Eggs are back & they pack a power protein boost that is perfect for a savory breakfast to-go. We also bake two kinds of squash, saving you a lot of time in the kitchen. Look for simply seasoned Baked Spaghetti Squash and a Stuffed Acorn Squash that is filled with dried fruit. Our bestselling Cabbage Rolls are back to the relief of a lot of our customers for the ultimate comfort food dinner that not only saves serious time but is full of homemade flavor.
At our Soup Station, my favorite Black Bean Pumpkin Soup is back and I get it anytime it is available! If you haven’t tasted that one yet, ask for a sample next time it’s on our hot bar. It is made with fiber-rich pumpkin and black beans, a little diced ham, and is finished with a splash of Sherry.
Our bakery has its fall flavors out as well with their bestselling Pumpkin Cheese Rolls, Caramel Iced Pumpkin Cookies, and Pumpkin Cream Puffs to name a few. Along with the new Turkey Red Wheat Bread, you need to stop by and stock up.
It’s always amazing to me as I gear up for our Local Dinner, this year held on Thursday, October 5, how much local produce we still have available! We still have tomatoes, cucumbers, and corn, on top of all the fall produce like apples, squash, and pumpkins. Grab a jacket or sweater, and come on over for a taste of the season!
